SERVICES FOR FACULTY & INSTRUCTORS

Pick it up!

1. In UH Catalog Voyager, locate the item of interest. On the right hand column, click the link titled 'Get This Item.'

2. After authenticating your account, click on the top link, 'Hold or transfer this item.'

3. Specify the pick-up location of the item at the bottom of the page.

What is Pick It Up - Available Items?  
The UH Manoa Pick It Up (Patron Placed Holds) service allows patrons to request available, eligible materials to be retrieved from the shelf and delivered to the Hamilton Library circulation desk for checkout.

Who may request the service? 
Faculty and graduate students with current checkout privileges are eligible to use the service.

Which items are eligible?
Libraries materials at Hamilton, Sinclair and other UH System Libraries are eligible for request. Audio Visual materials from Sinclair Library are also eligible.

Which items are not eligible?
Maps, items that are on reserve, items that are designated Library Use Only, and items which have a status other than Available (such as Lost Billed or At Bindery) are also not eligible for request 

How do I request an item?
From the item’s entry in the library catalog, click the Get This Item button, log in with your UH ID and password, select the desired copy (if applicable), and choose the location where you wish to pick up the item. Requests are not accepted by telephone, email, or on a walkup basis – online requests only! 

If you have questions about a particular item, please contact circulation or the owning library shown in the catalog entry.

How soon will I get my item?
This is not a rush serviceThe estimated turnaround time for an available Hamilton Library item is 2-3 days. (Retrieval from the Sinclair Library and sent to Hamilton Library for pick up will take 3-4 days). We recommend that patrons who have an immediate need for an item visit the Hamilton or Sinclair library, retrieve it from the shelf, and check it out there. 

It is possible that another patron may find a requested book on the shelf before library staff are able to retrieve it. In that case, the patron who found the item will be given preference. The patron who placed the request online will be put in the queue for the item.

The 3-4 day Pick It Up turnaround does not apply to items that are checked out to other patrons or have a status other than Available (such as In Process or At Bindery).

How will I know when my item is available for checkout?
If your email address is on file with the Libraries, you will be notified via email when the item is ready to be picked up.  

Please check 'My Account' in Voyager for the status of an item or call the circulation desk at 956-7203.

How long will my item be on hold the hold shelf? 
Requested items will remain on the hold shelf for 10 days. After that period, they will either be returned to the shelf or held for the next person in the queue.
