Open Access Week is an international celebration of the growing movement in academic and research communities to re-think traditional modes of scholarly communication. Open Access - the free, immediate, online access to scholarly research, coupled with the right to use that research - seeks to free information from the silos built by conventional publishers who limit access through high costs and restrictive policies. Addressing these issues in academia is crucial - we need to make a stand now to ensure that the research we do today sees the maximum return on investment and is used to its fullest potential.

This is the fourth consecutive year the UH Manoa Libraries have participated in Open Access Week. We'll be bringing you special events that combine the concepts of Open Access with workshops and giveaways!
