New book on violence and poverty surrounding young women in Okinawa

Young women, Poverty, Violence against them, and Okinawa--New book by Professor Yōko Uema sheds lights on predicaments faced by young women in Okinawa

 

Professor Yōko Uema of the University of the Ryukyus published a book (written in Japanese) titled Hadashi de nigeru: Okinawa no yoru no machi no shōjotachi [roughly translated: Fleeing on barefeet: young women in town at night in Okinawa.]

The Publisher has set up a special site for this book. The site allows the visitors to read some of the contents.
