The Oriental Economist Digital Archives, 1934-1985 will become available through Japan Knowledge (database) in June 2017!

 

The Oriental Economist Digital Archives

"The ORIENTAL ECONOMIST, a rare English language magazine published in Japan by Toyo Keizai Inc., continued without interruption over the 51 years from the inaugural issue in 1934 (Showa 9) throughout the wartime era until publication of the last issue in 1985 (Showa 6)."

"The ORIENTAL ECONOMIST will be available on JapanKnowledge [sic], listed under JKBooks. Along with "Toyo Keizai Shimpo / Weekly Toyo Keizai Digital Archives," this digital archive is an essential resource for academic research into the modern history of Japan. 

How to Access to Japan Knowledge (database):

1) Go to the Library's Homepage. http://library.manoa.hawaii.edu/
2) Under "Research Support," choose "Databases"
3) Type "Japan knowledge" in the search box (you need space between 2 words)
