Government Documents - Smithsonian Institution: American Historical Association

This guide provides an overview of the publications of the Smithsonian Institution and its subsidiary agencies, along with other non-governmental organizations whose publications were formerly issued as government publications.

About the agency

The American Historical Association (AHA) was established in 1884 and in 1889 required to submit its annual reports to Congress in accordance with the incorporating legislation. Although AHA is not administratively part of the U.S. government, the Government Printing Office assigned it a classification number under the Smithsonian.
