The American Historical Association (AHA) was established in 1884 and in 1889 required to submit its annual reports to Congress in accordance with the incorporating legislation. Although AHA is not administratively part of the U.S. government, the Government Printing Office assigned it a classification number under the Smithsonian.
Government Documents holds most of the AHA annual reports. Other AHA publications may be found elsewhere in the library.
Annual reports (SI 4.1:) Annual reports not only detail the activities of the AHA; they also contain reports about various aspects of American history.
Annual reports are also available in the U.S. Congressional Serial Set.
Additional publications covering 1910-1932 are available in the Executive Branch Documents microfiche set. Please contact a government documents librarian if you have questions about our holdings.
