The GIS Lab is open 10:00am-4:00pm
(hours and availability may change without notice depending on staffing)
Checkout the Learning GIS guide for tutorials, training materials, and GIS software suggestions.
We can help you learn how to work through various GIS tasks — basic software use, data management, analysis design, map design, and project development; however, it is your responsibility to complete your work. Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their faculty and/or TAs for assistance with, or clarification of, course assignments.
Appointments can be scheduled by emailing the GIS Coordinator.
We can provide support for classes with a GIS component. This can include a short introductory presentation on GIS and how it relates to the course topic; Introduction to ArcGIS workshops; and special topic workshops.
Open 10:00a - 4:00p, Monday - Friday, except holidays and when the lab is scheduled for a class or demonstration.
Please check the lab calendar for temporary lab closures.
The MAGIS Lab is located in the Government Documents and Maps Department on the ground floor of Hamilton Library.
The lab has eight computers and an assortment of software for GIS work.
Lab access is for UH students, faculty, and staff and for GIS work only. If the lab is locked, please ask at the Government Documents and Maps reference desk, or ring the buzzer if no one is there, and we'll be happy to open the lab.
If you'd like to reserve the lab for a class or workshop, please fill out the MAGIS Lab Reservation Form.
Contact the GIS Coordinator if you have questions or experience lab hardware or software problems.
The Lab is open for walk-in use 10:00a - 4:00p, Monday - Friday, except holidays and when the lab is scheduled for a class or demonstration. Please check the calendar below for temporary lab closures.
