A subset of Diaolong collection of Chinese ancient texts. The most comprehensive collection of China historic Gazetteer, spanning all of China’s regions and covering vast historical periods, from the Northern Sung Dynasty up to the Republic of China.
It provides the richest resource for researching China in multiple aspects, including its political history, literature, minorities, and religion, as well as the biographies of famous personages, its culture, economic development and, of course, its geography and natural history. More than just local gazetteers, it also includes source materials, dictionaries, and specialized works on topography, palaces, gardens, travel and even foreign travel. It is expected to publish a total of 5 series, with a total of more than 10,000 titles. Three series have been published so far, more than 6200 titles: Part 1: 2194 titles; Part 2: 1937 titles; Part 3: 2090 titles (newly available in December 2021.)
Offered via the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) platform, the NPCC database features authorized aggregated digital census data from China Statistics Press, the official publisher of the National Bureau of Statistics of the People’s Republic of China. It contains census data starting from the Third National Population Census of the People’s Republic of China (1982) to the Sixth National Population Census of the PRC (2020).
