Hawaiʻi - General Research

Hawaii General Research

Aloha!

The Hawaiian Collection is an internationally recognized research collection on the subject of Hawaiʻi. All formats, languages and levels of treatment are collected. Many of the items in the collection are unique and irreplaceable. We are part of the Hawaiian and Pacific Collections department.

We are located on the fifth floor of Hamilton Library with a reading room conducive to serious research and study. We have internet, computers, and scanners available. Most materials (except rare, fragile, or tightly bound) may be scanned in accordance with copyright laws. We also have our own reference and circulation service and different hours from the rest of the library. Currently, we are open M-F 10am-5pm.

If you decide to use our reading room, please note that no bags, purses, computer and tablet cases are allowed in the reading room. You can place your bag in the lockers directly across from the elevators. The lockers take 1 quarter to lock and it is returned to you once you retrieve your belongings. No food or drinks except covered water bottles are allowed. Please no phone calls or zooms in the reading room.
