Aerial Photographs and Imagery

Overview

MAGIS holds over 150,000 aerial photo prints of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific. Sources of aerial imagery are from USGS, USDA, and the US Navy, from the 1920s to the 2000s. Geographic and temporal coverage varies and is uneven. Most of the print aerials were damage in the 2004 flood. We are expanding and improving our collections through generous donations of new and replacement aerials. These collections are gradually being scanned and uploaded to our server for 24/7 access.

Access to the digitized aerials is self-service. Click on the Digital Aerial Photographs link and follow the instructions.

Access to the print aerials is restricted because of their fragile condition. Click on the Print Aerial Photographs link and follow the instructions.
