The Economic Development Administration (EDA) was established in 1961 as the Area Redevelopment Administration (ARA). In 1965, the ARA's functions were transferred to the newly created EDA. Its mission is "leading the federal economic development agenda by promoting competitiveness and preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy." It provides economic assistance in the form of grants to distressed communities in the U.S.
Government Documents holds a small number of EDA and ARA publications, including the following series:
Economic development research reports (C 46.29:)
We also have general publications, pamphlets, and other reports issued by EDA. In addition, we have laws, regulations, and Congressional hearings and reports concerning EDA.
