Data Management & Sharing Plans

"Data management is the process of validating, organizing, protecting, maintaining, and processing scientific data to ensure the accessibility, reliability, and quality of the data for its users."*

Creating a data management plan should be an integral step in the research planning process. A data management plan addresses various aspects of data that will be collected including, but not limited to, format, volume, storage, documentation, backups, preservation, and future availability and accessibility.

Funders like the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation are requiring data management and sharing plans as part of the application process. Below are resources to help you create data management and sharing plans.
