OCN 320 Aquatic Pollution: Home

course guide, aquatic pollution, marine pollution

Welcome OCN 320!

Warm-up activity: Listed below are links to 4 sources found on the free Web that discuss ocean acidification. Working in teams, organize these sources into groups by whatever categories make sense to you. After, we will have a class discussion about how you decided to categorize these items. Things to think about while you organize and categorize:

  • How much RESEARCH do you think was involved in writing each piece? Who is the AUTHOR

  • What is the source TYPE? Who is the intended AUDIENCE of each source? What is the PURPOSE of each?

  • Does the piece REFERENCE original research,  and if so how easy does the author make it for you to find the primary source?

Identifying the differences between quality journalism, conspiracy reports, and hyper-partisan news commentary.
