The National Science Foundation (NSF) was established in 1950 to promote science in the U.S., primarily by providing funding to researchers through grants.
NSF formerly produced a number of translations of scientific publications from other countries and issued conference proceedings about a variety of scientific and technical issues. NSF also produces statistical reports about science education and its grants programs in the U.S. Our collection also includes Congressional hearings about budget requests and appropriations for NSF.
