The inaugural ASE provides annual estimates on the number of employer firms by economic sector, gender, ethnicity, race, and veteran status. Data are available for the nation, states, the District of Columbia, and the 50 most populous metropolitan statistical areas. Supplements the Survey of Business Owners, which is conducted every five years as part of the Economic Census.
