Collaborating With Your Librarian and Laulima

Direct your students to research help by providing the contact information for their librarian. Your subject librarian, or liaison, has expertise in the resources of your discipline and is a great first point of contact for any question or comment about the Libraries.

Ways to Collaborate

There are many ways for you to collaborate with your liaison librarian. Contact them directly for more information. Here are some potential ways liaisons can partner with you:

  • Direct your students to research help by providing the contact information for their liaison librarian. Your subject librarian, or liaison, has expertise in the resources of your discipline and is a great first point of contact for any question or comment about the Libraries. Find your liaison librarian and get additional contact information in the Staff Directory.
  • Creating customized research guides (examples of Research and Subject Guides)
  • Assisting with research assignment design
  • Holding "office hours" within your online course to answer reference questions
  • Participating in a research discussion thread in your Laulima course
  • Holding virtual or on-site library instructional sessions

How to Add Your Librarian to Your Course

Instructors can submit an online help request to add guests and non-enrolled users to their course(s) as follows

  1. Login to Laulima
  2. Navigate to the course
  3. Click on the "Site Info" tool on the left side
  4. Click on the "Add Participants" tab
  5. Enter the librarian's UH ID
  6. Click "Continue"
  7. Select the role for the librarian and click "Continue"
  8. Click "Continue"
  9. Click "Finish"

The librarian should now appear in the list of participants for that course.
