OneSearch Mānoa Help: Accessing Resources

Accessing Physical Resources

The location of a physical item is found in the "Available at" area of the record, which typically indicates the collection and the call number for the item.  There might also be a "Locate it" button, which will show you a map to the location.

Accessing physical items depends on which collection the item belongs to.

  • in the main and Asia collections, access on the open shelves
    • You can also "Request Specific Copy" and pick it up at the Circulation Desk the next day
  • in Hawaiian and Pacific, request the item and pick up on the 5th floor of the main building
  • in the Audio/Visual collection, request the item and pick up at the Circulation Desk
  • in Loanable Technology, request the item and pick up at the Circulation Desk

Accessing Online Resources

In some cases, you can directly access the PDF of an academic article by clicking on the "Download PDF" link, which uses the LibKey service to retrieve the document.

Otherwise, access online resources through the bibliographic record by clicking on the Title of the resource or on the "Available Online" link.

When you sign in, you will see a list of vendors that provide the resource. In this example, we are looking at an online book.

Clicking on the vendor will send you to their access page.  For books, you can read the online or might be able to use Adobe Digital Editions to check the book out. For articles, you can typically download the PDF to your computer.
