OneSearch Mānoa Help: Expanding Results

Searching Beyond OneSearch

OneSearch does not search all of Hamilton Library's databases, which means that you may want to also search in specialized databases located under the "Databases & More" button on the library's front page.

There are hundreds of databases, often highly specialized, that can offer results beyond what OneSearch provides

Expanding Results in OneSearch

When you there are databases that Hamilton Library does not subscribe to, but you are able to search them to create a more comprehensive list of resources.  Click on the "Expand My Results Beyond UHM" on the top right of the results page to see the additional resources.

In addition to what you found using the default OneSearch, you will also see items that we do not subscribe to.  Most of these items will be peer-reviewed journal articles.  These items can be recognized with a link labelled "Click to View Access Options".

If you click on the link to view the record and then sign in with your UH Account, you will see an option to request "PDF Scan if Item Not Available at UHM LIbrary (ILL)".

The "PDF scan ..." link will send you to the request page at the Interlibrary Loan Office.  You can just click the "Submit" button and the ILL Office will attempt to request a copy for you.

The Interlibrary Loan Office also has a request process to borrow complete physical books. More information is available here.

UHM Library Interlibrary Loan services are available to University of Hawaii at Manoa students, faculty, staff, and affiliates in support of their academic and university related research activities when the materials are NOT available at the UH Manoa Libraries.  The service is free and requests can be made as often as you need to.
