As part of Ke Au Hou (A New Era): Sustaining Pacific Islands Knowledge, the sixth annual student conference of the UH-Mānoa Center for Pacific Islands Studies, seniors in the undergraduate degree program will present their capstone projects, starting at 1 p.m. on May 3. Working Groups: the Future of Pacific Librarianship

9:00-11:00am Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies Hālau o Haumea

We will have an opening then will divide into working groups. Each group will have a facilitator and include a mix of librarians, researchers, and students. All groups will be asked to address specific questions related to the future of librarianship in our region. Facilitators will synthesize the results during lunch and then we will reconvene and share.

LEAP student presentations

1:30-4:30pm Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies Hālau o Haumea

The University of North Texas-Department of Library and Information Sciences (UNT/DLIS), in partnership with Brigham Young University-Hawaii (BYU-HI), runs the Library Education for the U.S. Affilliated Pacfic (LEAP) program. This ALA accredited cohort program provides the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands (USAPI) with an online MLIS degree program. The second LEAP Program began in 2016; students enrolled in this cohort will be presenting their final projects.
