Articles can be retrieved or requested by one of three ways:
If an article is available online, there should be a direct link to the item under the "View Online" tab. Once the article loads in the current or a new window, you should be able to read the article freely. If, however, you are still unable to read the full article, try the following:
If an article is only available as a physical copy, you can request the physical item or request a PDF scan of the print copy. This will be displayed under the "How to Get" tab and request options are visible when you are signed in.
If an article is not available electronically or physically, you can request a copy of the article be sent to your email through inter-/intralibrary loan (ILL). Under the "How to Get" tab will be additional services directing you to a link to complete an ILL form. You can also access an ILL form on the library homepage; it will be the 5th button in the top right corner.
Books in physical and online formats are available on the Library's catalog.
When a book is available online, it can be accessed from a direct link under the tab "View Online." You will have the option to either read the book online, download the whole book, or download up to a set amount of pages.
When a book is only available physically, you can request to pick up the book at your preferred UH Library location. If you'd only like certain parts or chapters of the book, you can also send a request for a PDF scan of those pages. The PDF scan will be sent to your UH email.
When a book is not available online or physically, you can request the book be available for pickup at your preferred UH Library location by completing an ILL form.
If you are not in HI or reasonably near a UH system campus to pick up requested materials, please send a direct request to the Access Services department for further assistance at uhmlib@hawaii.edu. For all requested materials, complete an ILL form with a citation and/or permanent link provided by the title's record in OneSearch. Include your full address and your status as a distance education student in the notes section of the ILL form. Depending on where you are located, the Library may be able to send the materials directly to you.
Please be advised that return costs are to be paid by you, the recipient.
